The Wenjiang Banyan Tree Gallery marks the catalyst to a large hotel & residential masterplanning development in the traditional forest plains of Dujiangyan region. The latter is a complex irrigation infrastructure built in 256 BC of the Qin Dynasty, of which two of its canals still meanders through the site. The gallery is planned around an austere courtyard with a modern Chinese aesthetic – creating a sense of arrival and abstracting a traditional Chinese motif found next to the plot in Chen Mansion (1864).
